Entry is not residence
There is no separate Bali visa: US families enter and reside under Indonesian law
Current State Department guidance says a US passport must be undamaged and valid for six months beyond arrival. A visa is required. Eligible visitors can apply for a 30-day electronic visa in advance for Bali or use an eligible visa-on-arrival route, but work and long-term residence need the correct Indonesian category.
- 1
Use the official Indonesian immigration system and check the exact permitted activity, sponsor, duration and extension position.
- 2
Exit with the same passport used for entry and plan passport renewal around the immigration record.
- 3
Complete the current Indonesian customs and health declaration and Bali’s separate visitor levy when it applies.
- 4
Do not assume tourist permission covers remote work, local services, workshops, volunteering or commercial content.
- 5
Build post-arrival address and civil registration, including any required SKTT, into the sponsor’s written plan.
