Phuket can combine beach life, established international schools, private healthcare and a major airport. The island is much less convenient when school, home and work sit in different areas: north, centre and south are linked by roads that also carry tourist traffic, construction vehicles and intense rain.

Phuket's international-school market is established but geographically segmented. BISP publishes 2026/27 annual tuition from THB 489,000 to THB 982,700, before application, placement, bond and other charges. HeadStart's two campuses do not automatically offer identical age coverage, so confirm the exact campus and progression.

Bangkok Hospital Phuket publishes a Children Clinic open daily and a 24/7 Emergency & Trauma Center. Families should verify which entrance and on-duty capability apply to a child's condition and how the insurer authorises care.
Specialist care
Complex cases may transfer to Bangkok or overseas. Insurance should cover stabilisation, medically necessary transfer, receiving-hospital arrangements and an accompanying parent where appropriate.

Should we choose a school or home first in Phuket?
Shortlist schools that fit the child first, confirm realistic availability and fees, then search for homes inside a repeatable term-time journey. A home chosen first can leave one unsuitable school or a punishing daily route.
How long should a family try the city before signing a lease?
Spend at least several ordinary weekdays there while school is in session. Repeat the school run at opening and closing times, the adult work journey and the hospital journey after dark. If possible, also see how the area works in rain, pollution, tourist traffic or busy border periods.
Are published school fees the full cost?
Usually not. Add application, registration or enrolment charges, deposits, capital or development levies, transport, meals, uniforms, devices, trips, exams and any learning support. Check refund and notice rules before paying.
Can we rely on the nearest private hospital?
