How we calculated the first-year figure
We used a new nine-year-old entering the closest published Year 5 or Grade 4 equivalent in the latest verified schedule, chose the annual tuition option where available, and added identifiable compulsory joining and development charges. When a current total is not public, we say that a quote is needed. Refundable deposits are explained in each note; optional transport, meals, uniform, devices, trips and individual support are excluded unless stated.

Admissions and waiting lists
Start early, but ask about a real place before paying
“Applications open” and “places available” are not the same thing. Ask the admissions team to explain the position for the exact year group, start date and support profile.
Ask about the exact grade
CIS assesses learning and language needs; SSC says some levels may be limited or full. Ask for the present status of the child's grade, not a general statement that admissions are open.
Request one complete invoice
Cebu schools publish very different amounts online. Ask every school for tuition, joining costs, development charges, deposit, materials, transport, meals, support and foreign-pupil fees in writing.
Check the foreign-pupil process
Ask the school which visa or Special Study Permit documents apply to the child and which charges or lead times sit outside its normal admissions process.
- Ask whether the year is open, at capacity, using a wait pool or only accepting priority applicants.
- Confirm what assessment is required, whether it can be completed remotely and when a decision is normally made.

Compare the door-to-door journey in school-week traffic, including rain, bus collection, sibling campuses and after-school pickup.
Talamban and Banilad
CIS and Bright Academy make northern Cebu a natural school-first shortlist. It can also offer larger homes, but road bottlenecks still need a live test.
Mandaue and North Reclamation
SSC sits in Mandaue. A same-side home can simplify school while retaining access to Cebu City and northern services.
Kasambagan and Mabolo
CIE's Cebu campus can pair with northern-central housing. Check junctions towards work, healthcare and after-school activities.
Mactan and the south
Bridge crossings from Mactan or long north–south runs can overwhelm an otherwise attractive school. Treat the journey as part of admissions.
Ask the transport team: Is the route door-to-door or stop-based? Who supervises younger pupils? What is the earliest pickup, latest drop-off and after-activity option? Can routes change, and is a seat guaranteed for the intended address?

How early should we apply to international schools in Cebu?
Begin enquiries six to twelve months before the intended start. Apply earlier for a popular year, boarding place or specialist support, and ask whether the exact grade has space before paying a non-refundable fee.
Does an application or assessment fee guarantee a place?
No. It pays for the admissions process. Keep the housing plan flexible until the school confirms the year group, campus, support and written offer.
What does the first-year estimate include?
It uses one new primary-age pupil and the clearest current published charges we could verify. Where a school does not publish a complete fee schedule, we label the figure as incomplete instead of inventing a total. Transport, meals, uniforms, devices, trips and individual support remain extra unless stated.
How do we check a school's accreditation?
Search the accreditor or programme provider's own directory, match the exact campus and programme, and distinguish membership, candidacy and authorisation from full accreditation.
What should we ask about learning support?
Send recent reports and assessments before applying. Ask about capacity in the correct grade, staffing, services included in tuition, extra charges and what happens if needs become clearer after entry.
Should we choose a home before a school in Cebu?
